How to Send Money With Google Wallet?

Google Wallet primarily functions as a digital wallet for storing payment methods, passes, and making contactless payments. However, in some countries, Google Pay (which is integrated with Google Wallet) allows users to send money to friends and family.

If peer-to-peer payments (P2P) are available in your country, you can follow these steps to send money using Google Wallet (or Google Pay).

1. Check If You Can Send Money with Google Wallet

Google Wallet itself does not support sending money directly. However, if Google Pay’s money transfer feature is available in your region, you can use it instead.

Available in: US, India, and some other countries.
Not available in: Europe, Australia, and many other regions.

To check availability:

  1. Open Google Wallet or Google Pay.
  2. Look for the “Send Money” option.
  3. If the option isn’t available, you’ll need to use Google Pay (GPay) instead.

2. Sending Money via Google Wallet (Google Pay in Supported Countries)

A. Send Money to Friends & Family

If your country supports peer-to-peer payments, follow these steps:

  1. Open Google Wallet or Google Pay.

  4. Choose a payment method (bank account, debit card, or Google Pay balance).
  5. Enter the amount you want to send.
  6. Tap “Send” and confirm with PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID.

B. Send Money Using QR Code (India & Some Regions)

Google Pay in India and other regions supports QR code payments.

  1. Open Google Pay.
  2. Tap “Scan QR Code”.
  3. Scan the recipient’s QR code.
  4. Enter the amount and confirm the payment.

  2. Tap “Transfer to Bank”.
  3. Enter the recipient’s bank details (account number, IFSC/SWIFT code).
  4. Choose a payment method.
  5. Confirm and send the money.

💡 Note: Bank transfers may take 1–5 business days, depending on your bank.

4. Requesting Money from Others

You can also request money from someone using Google Pay:

  1. Open Google Pay.
  2. Tap “Request”.
  3. Enter the person’s name, phone number, or email.
  4. Enter the amount and tap “Request”.

The recipient will receive a notification and can send the money instantly.

5. Checking Transaction History

To check past payments:

  1. Open Google Wallet/Google Pay.
  2. Tap “Transactions”.
  3. Review past payments and transfers.

6. Canceling a Payment

  • If the payment is pending, you can cancel it from the Transactions tab.
  • If already processed, you’ll need to ask the recipient to refund the amount.

7. Security Tips for Sending Money with Google Wallet

Enable screen lock (PIN, fingerprint, Face ID).
Verify recipient details before sending money.
Check for transaction alerts via SMS or email.
Never share OTPs or payment PINs with anyone.

Conclusion

If Google Pay’s send money feature is available in your country, you can easily transfer money to friends, family, and businesses. For contactless payments and storing passes, you can continue using Google Wallet.
